The view is impossibly clear. The rock face feels so close that you blink, trying to convince yourself that what you are seeing is real. It is, quite literally, remarkable.<\/p>\n<p>Much of New Zealand is like this. Lakes, oceans, mountains, forests and fields, tightly gathered together in a landscape of extraordinary contrast. New Zealand is such a small country you can leave a snow-covered mountain in the morning and stand beside the ocean that afternoon. You can drive through a landscape that changes completely before you have had time to understand the one you just left.<\/p>\n<p>To fit this place, our fires had to be pretty. It&#8217;s a good thing though, because nobody wants to sit around and ugly outdoor fireplace.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"ult-spacer spacer-6aa108af90f76\" data-id=\"6aa108af90f76\" data-height=\"40\" data-height-mobile=\"10\" data-height-tab=\"10\" data-height-tab-portrait=\"10\" data-height-mobile-landscape=\"10\" style=\"clear:both;display:block;\"><\/div><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Pacific Ring of Fire<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"ult-spacer spacer-6aa108af912b9\" data-id=\"6aa108af912b9\" data-height=\"20\" data-height-mobile=\"10\" data-height-tab=\"10\" data-height-tab-portrait=\"10\" data-height-mobile-landscape=\"10\" style=\"clear:both;display:block;\"><\/div><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p>New Zealand\u2019s beauty and its many volcanos are a result of the <a href=\"https:\/\/teara.govt.nz\/en\/volcanoes\/page-2\">Pacific Ring of Fire<\/a>. A volcanic fault line that is also responsible for frequent earthquakes that our buildings, roads and infrastructure are all designed to survive.<\/p>\n<p>New Zealand\u2019s engineers don\u2019t design in case of an earthquake \u2014 they design for them, because they happen all the time.<\/p>\n<p>The same is true for our outdoor fireplaces. They are engineered to survive the worst conditions the earth has to throw at them. High winds, rough terrain, lots of ground movement.<\/p>\n<p>The first Flare outdoor fireplace was made over twenty years ago. Flare Outdoor Fireplaces is located in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bayofplentynz.com\/\">Bay of Plenty<\/a>, a coastal North Island region. As the name implies, there is plenty. Plenty of sun, plenty of rain and the perfect temperature to grow lots of everything. Trees, grass and kiwifruit \u2014 the reason <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bayofplentynz.com\/places\/te-puke\/\">our little town<\/a> is also known as The Kiwifruit Capital of The World.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also the perfect place to make concrete. Not too hot, so the concrete doesn\u2019t go hard before we can pour it. Not too cold, so it doesn\u2019t take ages to set. Almost all year round we have the perfect temperature to make fireplaces, and we&#8217;re able to pour and reset our concrete moulds several times a week.<\/p>\n<p>Every one of our outdoor fireplaces is made in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, then shipped around the world.
