It enables your fire to start well and create a good ember base.<\/p>\n<p>Fire loves to climb. When you use this fire starting technique you encourage the fire to climb and stay alight. The alternative is to create a teepee of wood, the problem with this is the teepee collapses early and needs more attention. The jenga style collapses later, once the wood is more alight and results in a better ember base.<\/p>\n<p>It is critical to use small pieces of wood, as they have more surface area relative to their mass and will be dryer.
