Is Slow Cooking The Best Way To Cook?

Is Slow Cooking The Best Way To Cook?

Slow it down, fire it up, and bring the world’s best cooking cultures into your backyard.

Welcome to our latest demonstration of “entertaining with Flare”,  where we use a Flare Outdoor Fireplace to transform a simple gathering into a delicious, relaxed experience. Based in New Zealand, this is where fast barbecue meets slow-fire culture: trading a quick steak-and-go routine for a multi-course, social dining event, right in your own backyard.

Fire up the swing frames as I cook an assortment of premium cuts:

  • Rump cap (picanha) on skewers—salted and slowly cooked for flavour
  • Angus fillet steaks, reverse-seared after a gentle smoke in the chimney
  • Award-winning pork-dumpling sausages, cooked on skewers to juicy perfection
  • Rack of lamb, smoked on skewers and sliced for grazing

Each piece of meat comes off when it’s ready, encouraging friends and family to mingle, snack, and enjoy the slow pace, not rush to the dinner table. It’s all about the art of slow entertainment: pouring wine, passing snacks, and breathing in the ambience of fire, smoke, and conversation.

You’ll witness the balance of heat control, learning how to manage embers and adjusting swing frames. Along the way, I get my team to taste-tests them all to reveal their favourites.

This video is all about experiencing the joy of cooking with heart and letting each dish cook in its own time. If you’re ready to bring together food, fire, and friends, give this video a watch. It might just change how you cook outdoors.
