Reverse Sear Tomahawk Steak
Ingredients
- 1 Tomahawk steak
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Black pepper
- 2 tbsp butter
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
- Fresh thyme sprigs
Equipment
- Wireless meat probe
- Flare outdoor fireplace
- Ironclad pan
Method
Preparation:
- Remove the Tomahawk steak from the fridge and let it come to room temperature for at least 1 hour.
- Rub the steak with olive oil, then season generously with salt and black pepper.
Smoking:
- Preheat the chimney of your Flare outdoor fireplace.
- Insert the wireless meat probe into the thickest part of the steak.
- Place the steak in the smoke chamber and cook until the internal temperature reaches 105°F.
Searing:
- Remove the steak from the smoker once it reaches 105°F.
- Preheat the Ironclad pan on the grill.
- Add butter, crushed garlic, and fresh thyme to the pan.
- Sear the steak in the hot pan for 1 minute per side, basting with the butter, garlic, and thyme mixture.
Serving:
- Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Serve the Tomahawk steak with your favorite sides and enjoy!
