Reverse Sear Tomahawk Steak
Ingredients
  • 1 Tomahawk steak
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • Fresh thyme sprigs
Equipment
  • Wireless meat probe
  • Flare outdoor fireplace
  • Ironclad pan
Method
Preparation:
  1. Remove the Tomahawk steak from the fridge and let it come to room temperature for at least 1 hour.
  2. Rub the steak with olive oil, then season generously with salt and black pepper.
Smoking:
  1. Preheat the chimney of your Flare outdoor fireplace.
  2. Insert the wireless meat probe into the thickest part of the steak.
  3. Place the steak in the smoke chamber and cook until the internal temperature reaches 105°F.
Searing:
  1. Remove the steak from the smoker once it reaches 105°F.
  2. Preheat the Ironclad pan on the grill.
  3. Add butter, crushed garlic, and fresh thyme to the pan.
  4. Sear the steak in the hot pan for 1 minute per side, basting with the butter, garlic, and thyme mixture.
Serving:
  1. Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  2. Serve the Tomahawk steak with your favorite sides and enjoy!
