Torrey & Sue Hilton founded Flare Outdoor Fireplaces in 2001. They are still actively involved in the business and live right next-door to the Te Puke based head office.
Torrey & Sue have four adult children (all girls) and a good number of grand children too. Sue has an incredible eye for design, which she brings to a number of other things she is involved in as well. This eye for design, combined with Torrey’s ability to build pretty much anything, resulted in the very first Flare Fire.
All these years later the timeless design of the Flare Fire makes them increasingly popular. The functionality and build quality results in something that will last a lifetime and more.
Torrey and Sue are still involved in the business but also have other interests that keep them both very busy.
Originally called Wholesale Heat Torrey & Sue changed the company name somewhere along the way to Flare Outdoor Fireplaces.
You can see their full story here.
Flare now has offices in Australia and Canada and is also looking to expand into the USA. Torrey believes the growth has come on the back of the product’s architectural merit, functionality and modular design, making it ideal for most places and spaces.
“We love that a Flare Fire makes you the hero of your outdoor space. It does this by creating a great looking area where people want to gather. The pumping heat of a natural concrete fire creates a special ambience.” Torrey Hilton.
The Outdoor Fireplace shown in the above picture is the Tuscany Senator model with a Schist finish set in an outdoor room with a roof and blinds.
As I write this, Torrey and Sue are standing outside my office designing our new show room / display area. They are great to work with and I am freshly reminded of our special family culture which creates a great place to work.
